BJP cautions against forces seeking ‘takhta palat’

New Delhi, Oct 21 (PTI) The BJP on Wednesday claimed that certain forces from within the country and outside are working in cahoots to destabilise India and called upon people, especially youth, to understand the challenges and be wary of such elements.

Without naming anyone, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi alleged that their objective is “regime change”, which, he alleged, entails derailing “India’s path of progress through ‘takhta palat’ (coup), violent conflict and conspiracies, sowing discord within Indian society and destroying its religion and culture”.

“Their demands are never genuine. At times, they will claim that the LIC is faulty; at other times, they will say HAL is faulty. Sometimes they will say SBI is faulty, other times SEBI is faulty. At times they will say vaccines are faulty, EVMs are faulty, or even the electoral rolls are faulty,” Trivedi told reporters.

The BJP has been accusing the Congress and other opposition parties of trying to create anarchy in the country to destabilise the Modi government and bring about a “regime change” in collusion with the Cockroach Janta Party and foreign forces since a series of street protests against the Election Commission over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Review of the electoral roll.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at a Vijayadashmi event on Tuesday, Trivedi said the PM also had clearly cautioned the country against elements who divide society and harbour hatred against Indian culture and religion.

The BJP leader said that with India advancing at a “rapid pace” and carving out an “influential position” on the global stage, there are many forces, both outside and within the country, that find its progress “unpalatable” and hence are trying to destabilise the country.

“A clear collusion between these two sets of forces is evident,” he said, adding, “Their objective is to sow division in society and plunder power. They are those who harbour hatred for Indian culture and the Hindu dharma and propagate misleading narratives about every institution in India,”

The BJP Rajya Sabha MP called upon the people to “deeply understand the challenges” facing India and “understand the reality of such forces”.

“I have one thing to say to ‘barkhurdars’ (youngsters) of this country: beware of the traitors hiding within your own midst,” he added. PTI PK RT

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
