Bijnor (UP), Apr 22 (PTI) A man allegedly strangled his 17-year-old daughter to death over her relationship with a local youth, citing “family honour”, police said on Wednesday, Circle Officer (Nagina) Rajesh Singh said the incident took place in Binjahedi village, where the accused, identified as Najakat, allegedly killed his daughter Ayesha at their home.
Najakat, who works at a bakery in Delhi, had recently returned home.
According to police, Ayesha was in a relationship with a boy from the village and refused to end it despite repeated objections from family members.
The boy had also visited her house seeking marriage, but was scolded and driven away by the family.
Singh said the accused told police that he tried to persuade his daughter on Wednesday, but when she refused, he strangled her in a fit of rage due to fear of social stigma.
