Purnea (Bihar), Apr 23 (PTI) A woman police officer in Bihar’s Purnea district has been placed under suspension for posting reels on social media of herself in uniform, in violation of directions issued by the headquarters, an official statement said on Thursday.

The police statement said that Shabana Azmi, the SHO of Mahila Thana, was suspended by Purnea Superintendent of Police Sweety Sehrawat.

Azmi was found to be regularly posting reels, while in uniform, on her social media account, which was “a violation of the SOP issued by the Police Headquarters”, it said.

The SP also warned that stern action would be taken against all police officers found indulging in similar behaviour.

Notably, Azmi was in the news last year while she was in charge of a police outpost in Purnea, and had drawn flak for letting an elderly relative sit in her chair. PTI NAC ACD
