Patna, Nov 6 (PTI) The Bihar government on Wednesday signed an MoU with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the re-development of Moin-ul-Haq cricket stadium here.
The agreement was signed between the BCCI and the state government’s sports department to give a facelift to the stadium so that it can host national and international level cricket matches.
“This will transform, Moin-ul-Haq cricket stadium, as an international stadium equipped with state-of-the-art facilities where day and night matches and other sporting activities will be organised,” Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) president Rakesh Kumar Tiwary told PTI.
“The reconstructed stadium, having five-star facilities, will have a seating capacity of over 40,000 people, and the construction work will be completed in three years”, he said.
According to the MoU, the existing Moin-ul-Haq has been leased out to the BCA on the payment of Re 1. All the profits would be shared by the BCA and BCCI for seven years after the new stadium begins to function, he said.
“After seven years, profit would be shared by the state govt and BCA in a 50:50 ratio. The lease would be given for 30 years, which would be extended later,” he said.
The reconstructed stadium will also have an indoor cricket academy with residential accommodation. Besides, there would be 76 corporate hospitality boxes, 70 rooms for guests with five-star facilities and multi-level parking, the BCA president said.
The new cricket complex premises will also have tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, a gym and a spa, he added.
