New Delhi, Nov 1 (PTI) The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on Sunday alleged that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s “stolen mandate” remarks were an attempt to undermine public confidence in democratic institutions.

Addressing INDIA bloc’s rally here on the “vote chori” charge, Kharge alleged that several BJP governments in the country, including at the Centre and in Bihar, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, were formed on “stolen” mandate and called for removing Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power in order to “save” democracy.

“Modi jayega to hi loktantra bachega, Modi ko hatayenge tabhi loktantra ko bachayenge, Modi ko hatao loktantra ko bachao (Remove Modi to save democracy),” he said.

Reacting to the remarks, LJP (RV) national spokesperson Ritesh Kumar said that such serious allegations should not be made without credible evidence and must be pursued through appropriate legal and constitutional processes.

“Calling for the removal of the Prime Minister on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations is an attempt to undermine public confidence in democratic institutions,” Kumar told PTI.

“If the Congress has evidence of electoral wrongdoing, it should present it before the competent authorities. The integrity of elections and the independence of constitutional institutions must be protected through facts, due process and respect for the law, not through inflammatory rhetoric,” he said.

Kumar termed as “irresponsible” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar would be removed from his post and jailed for “treason” in the future over alleged “vote chori” and that Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah would face legal action.

“No political leader should prejudge legal outcomes or use threats against constitutional authorities as a substitute for evidence,” the LJP (RV) spokesperson said. PTI ADI KVK
