Kolkata, Apr 26 (PTI) The affidavit of CPI(M) candidate from West Bengal’s Uttar Dum Dum Assembly constituency, Dipsita Dhar, shows that her declared movable assets have increased from nearly Rs 3 lakh in 2021 to around Rs 8 lakh in 2026, while she has no immovable property in her name.

A comparison of affidavits filed by Dhar for the 2021 assembly election, the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, and the current election shows her declared movable assets rising from Rs 2.87 lakh in 2021 to Rs 4.99 lakh in 2024 and Rs 7.84 lakh this year.

According to her affidavit, Dhar had Rs 10,000 in cash at the time of filing her nomination.

Dhar had contested the 2021 assembly election from Bally and the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Sreerampur. Her affidavit mentioned that she has two criminal cases.

Dhar, who has emerged as one of the younger faces of the Left in politics, has also seen a change in her academic profile over the period. While she described herself as a postgraduate in her earlier affidavits, her latest declaration states that she completed a PhD in philosophy in 2025.

The CPI(M) has projected Dhar as a young leader with a modest lifestyle as it seeks to rebuild its urban support base in parts of the state. PTI SCH MNB
