Howrah, Apr 22 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday led a colourful roadshow here in support of Trinamool Congress candidates.

The TMC supremo walked the two-kilometre stretch from Carry Road to Shankar Math along with party compatriots, waving at the crowd gathered on both sides of the thoroughfare of Howrah on the west bank of the Hooghly river opposite its twin city, Kolkata.

Participants carrying banners, festoons and TMC flags walked in the roadshow, not far from the state administrative headquarters ‘Nabanna’.

Banerjee was greeted with flowers by some people, as onlookers gathered on both sides of the road, as well as on the rooftops and balconies of houses.

TMC candidates and footballer-turned-party MP Prasun Banerjee accompanied the chief minister in the roadshow.

Polling in constituencies in Howrah is scheduled to be held on April 29 in the second leg of the two-phase elections in West Bengal. The first phase will be held on Thursday, and votes will be counted on May 4. PTI AMR NN
