Aizawl, Sep 23 (PTI) Mizoram BJP unit president and Siaha MLA Dr K. Beichhua on Wednesday said Ayushman Bharat has brought about a significant transformation in India’s healthcare sector by making quality and affordable treatment accessible to millions of people.
Marking the eighth anniversary of the flagship healthcare scheme at the BJP state office here, Beichhua congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India, describing Ayushman Bharat as one of the world’s largest healthcare initiatives.
He said the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) provides eligible families with cashless hospitalisation coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh annually.
More than 60 crore people across states and Union Territories have benefited from the scheme, he claimed, adding that it has helped numerous families substantially reduce their medical expenses.
Beichhua said the scheme was aimed at ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent people from accessing healthcare and had particularly benefited poorer and vulnerable sections of society.
He reiterated the BJP Mizoram’s commitment to supporting initiatives to strengthen healthcare delivery and urged people to spread awareness about the scheme so that all eligible beneficiaries can avail themselves of its benefits. PTI CORR RG
