Thane, Jul 14 (PTI) A video of an autorickshaw driver allegedly misbehaving with a woman passenger in Maharashtra’s Thane city surfaced on social media, prompting the traffic police to take action against him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat on Monday said the video of the incident, which took place on Friday, showed the autorickshaw driver arguing with the passenger over taking up a short-distance fare and attempting to assault her.

Based on the video, the traffic police acted promptly on Sunday and traced the vehicle and its owner, whose son was driving the auto during the incident.

The official said the driver has been penalised as per the Motor Vehicles Act, and a challan has been issued to him. PTI COR ARU
