Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has identified a person in connection with the high-profile attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his 12th-floor Bandra residence.

The intruder had fled the scene following a scuffle with Khan in the wee hours between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Thursday. The police had questioned three staff members from the actor’s house.

“One accused has been identified, and 10 teams have been formed to apprehend him. Preliminary investigation suggests he entered Saif Ali Khan’s house using the fire escape staircase with the intention of robbery. Further details will be disclosed once the accused is taken into custody,” said Gedam Dixit,  Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone 9, Mumbai Police.

One of the staff members from the actor’s house was also injured in the scuffle and is being treated at the hospital, according to the police, adding that she was doing fine.

In the afternoon, a forensic team from the Mumbai Police was seen leaving Saif’s apartment after collecting fingerprints. An FIR was registered at the Bandra police station.

Saif was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital with six stab wounds for which he underwent surgery. The 54-year-old is now out of danger, according to doctors.
