Guwahati, May 14 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday reviewed the progress of major development projects, including investments committed during Advantage Assam 2.0, and said over 60 per cent of the proposals were in advanced stages of implementation.
Under the Advantage Assam 2.0 initiative held in February 2025, the state received investment commitments worth over Rs 5 lakh crore.
“Today, I examined the status of these projects and I’m happy to report that over 60% of investment commitments are in advanced stages of implementation, with some already operationalised”, Sarma said in a post on ‘X’.
The chief minister said he had directed officials to fast-track implementation and would personally engage with industry leaders and stakeholders in the coming months to ensure that the investments materialise fully.
“Once completed, these projects will be game changers for Assam,” he said.
Sarma also reviewed the power supply situation in the state and discussed measures to ensure round-the-clock electricity supply.
Assam’s peak power demand stood at 2,950 MW last year, and this summer it was expected to be around 3,100 MW, he said.
”We are adequately prepared to meet this demand, and I have directed the state’s three power distribution companies to ensure compliance,” he said.
He also reviewed the progress of ongoing thermal, solar and pump storage power projects to ensure that the state remains power surplus in the coming years.
Sarma also reviewed the progress on the Maa Kamakhya Access corridor project.
He said that with most legal processes now resolved, work will gather pace in coming days. ”Our aim is to offer an excellent experience to all the pilgrims who are visiting Maa Kamakhya Mandir,” he added. PTI DG DG MNB
