Guwahati, Nov 1 (PTI) Assam has set a target to procure 8.49 lakh MT of paddy at a minimum support price of Rs 2,441 per quintal during the 2026-27 session, the Chief Minister’s Office said on Sunday.
From November 1 to May 31 next year, the procurement will take place through 181 centres across the state, the CMO said in a social media post.
“Assam sets a target to procure 8.49 lakh MT of paddy in 2026-27 at an MSP of Rs 2,441 per quintal,” it added.
This procurement exercise will ensure fair value for farmers’ hard work and strengthen the agricultural sector of Assam, the CMO said.
It also said that farmers will have to register to supply rice to state procurement agencies.
