New Delhi: A close associate of Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dalla, who accidentally shot him last October, has become a major concern for law enforcement in both Delhi and Punjab, ThePrint has learnt. He is now on the radar of Indian security agencies.
According to sources, Gurjant Singh alias Gurjant Jenta, is linked to a recent wave of grenade attacks in Punjab and is also running an extortion racket in the national capital.
Jenta, a native of Kharar in Punjab’s Mohali was arrested along with Dalla by the Canadian police in the firing case and was also granted bail and his tracker bracelet was also removed, a month after they were both granted bail in December.
Sources also said that talks with Canadian authorities regarding Dalla’s extradition have made no progress. Dalla is a designated terrorist in India.
Sources said that Jenta fled India around 2018 and later took shelter with Dalla, who now leads the banned terror outfit, Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF).
“Gurjant Singh alias Jenta is spreading his foothold in the national capital. He has been making extortion calls. He wants to bring back the terror of the Bhullar gang. With Bishnoi in jail, Jenta has found this vacuum and is using it to establish his name here,” a source said to ThePrint.
Jenta is the brother of Jaspreet Singh alias Jassi, who was killed in an encounter along with Jaipal Bhullar, who ran the Bhullar gang, in 2021. Jassi was from Mohali, Bhullar from Ferozepur. Bhullar was once Punjab’s most wanted gangster.
“He fled to Canada and has been working with Arsh Dalla, Raman Judge, all of whom come under the same umbrella operated by Pakistan-based gangster Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda,” the source said.
“Earlier Jenta had his men and power limited only to Punjab. Now he is trying to increase the base,” the source explained.
Jenta was earlier in Australia and then moved to Canada to work closely with Dalla. “They also now run and are part of the pro-Khalistan gangster-terrorist nexus spread across the United States, Canada and Pakistan,” another source said.
The gangster had claimed responsibility for the shooting outside the house of singer Prem Dhillon in Canada. He was also behind an attempted murder of a café owner in Punjab’s Mohali in May 2023, after which several members of his gang were arrested.
“He is recruiting young boys through social media to carry out crimes here in India and is now targeting Delhi. Earlier he was limited only to Punjab,” a third source said.
