As a part of the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO), a summit was organised in New Delhi Wednesday to bring together notable personalities from various sectors, including entrepreneurs, veterans leading in the field of businesses and industry, corporate entities, representatives from government, and the social sector, a PIB press release stated.

The primary goal of the summit was to create a platform by bringing together different stakeholders to bridge the gap between the skills required by the industry and the core competencies possessed by veterans.
The summit was an initiative to facilitate the integration of veterans into various sectors. General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), emphasized the importance of veterans in the nation’s prosperity and their contribution in strengthening the society and nation building. He highlighted that the skills and experiences of veterans are invaluable for the industry and as a whole.
The Indian Army’s holistic skill certification process is aimed at meeting the requirements of both the industry and the government. The Project KAUSHALVEER initiative is also being carried out to provide veterans with certification for skill sets as per established industry standards. The panel for the theme “Skills Required to Meet Public and Private Sector Needs” discussed the importance of the Skilling & Training Ecosystem.
The panel included Colonel Sunil Prem (Retired) from Brisk Olive, Lieutenant Colonel Iqbal Singh (Retired) from Google India, and Major Md Ali Shah (Retired). The discussion was moderated by Major General Deepak Sapra (Retired). The session focused on exploring the diverse skill sets of veterans and how they can be effectively utilized in the emerging sectors of both the public and private sectors.
The summit witnessed the participation of a number of dignitaries, including senior government officials, industry representatives, and notable veterans. The event was a significant milestone in the Army Welfare Placement Organisation’s efforts to strengthen the linkages between veterans and various sectors.
