Amaravati, April 20 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer and YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday extended birthday greetings to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
The leaders wished Naidu good health, long life and continued strength to lead the state towards prosperity and development.
Taking to X, Nazeer said, I extend my heartiest felicitations and warm greetings to Naidu on his birthday. May God Almighty shower His choicest blessings on him for good health, long life and to strengthen his resolve to lead Andhra Pradesh on the path of prosperity and development.
In his post on X, Jagan said, Happy Birthday Naidu. Wishing you a healthy and peaceful long life!” Meanwhile, Naidu and his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari visited the Patamata Anna Canteen in Vijayawada on the occasion of his birthday.
The CM celebrated his birthday in a simple manner among the poor, workers and the public, as beneficiaries of the Anna Canteen extended their greetings.
Naidu and his wife greeted everyone and served breakfast at the canteen.
The couple, later, joined the beneficiaries for a meal.
After breakfast, the Chief Minister interacted with locals and inquired about the implementation of various government schemes, including welfare measures for auto drivers, free bus travel for women and others.
Naidu said Anna Canteens are being strengthened and expanded to ensure that no one in the state goes hungry.
He said the initiative, which provides nutritious meals at a nominal cost of Rs 5, draws inspiration from former chief minister of the state NT Rama Rao’s Annaprasada (free food) scheme in Tirumala and aims to deliver quality food in a dignified setting.
Addressing reporters, Naidu said, “Anna Canteens are not about charity but about ensuring respect and quality for the poor. We are committed to making sure no one sleeps hungry in Andhra Pradesh.” Noting that 269 Anna Canteens are currently operational, he said the number will soon be increased to 275.
Naidu criticised the previous YSRCP government, alleging that canteens were shut down and cases were filed against those serving food to the poor.
He called for a public movement to eradicate hunger in the state, describing Andhra Pradesh as the “Annapurna of the country.” The Chief Minister said the P4 model Public-Private-People Partnership would play a key role in such welfare initiatives.
On the occasion, Bhuvaneswari donated Rs 76 lakh towards one day’s expenses of Anna Canteens, facilitating free food distribution at nearly 270 centres across the state. PTI MS ROH
