Amaravati, Sep 11 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday approved the constitution of a State Data Governance Committee (SDGC), aimed at breaking departmental data silos, enabling interoperability across government databases, and improving the use of data and AI for public service delivery.
Chief secretary G Sai Prasad said SDGC was formed following a decision of the Committee of Secretaries under the chairmanship of the cabinet secretary on interoperable and integrated government databases.
“The government, after careful examination of the matter approves the constitution of SDGC,” Prasad said in a Government Order (GO).
According to the Centre’s directives, SDGC will function as an oversight body.
The Centre also mandated states and Union Territories to take action on the publication of state data sharing procedures, adoption of data, meta data and API standards.
Further, it directed them to make use of National Data Exchange Platform, including facilitating the development and deployment of State Data Exchange Platform.
The SDGC will encompass the chief secretary as the chairperson, along with other members.
However, the government departments will retain control over what data may be shared to ensure appropriate security and privacy safeguards, the GO added. PTI STH SA
