Amaravati, Sep 30 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday distributed house regularisation pattas worth Rs 9,800 crore to more than 24,000 families in Vijayawada.
The regularised documents grant full ownership rights to beneficiaries of decades-old NTR era house sites under Pedalaku Pattabhishekam’ programme.
As part of Pedalaku Pattabhishekam’ programme, the government will regularise houses built on land covered by NTR-era (former CM NT Rama Rao) house pattas issued decades ago.
The regularisation will cover 617 acres, equivalent to nearly 30 lakh square yards, whose market value is estimated at Rs 24,297 crore, said an earlier press release.
Beneficiaries span across eight assembly constituencies and 15 mandals in NTR and Krishna districts.
They come from Vijayawada East, Vijayawada West, Vijayawada Central, Gannavaram, Jaggayyapeta, Mylavaram, Nandigama and Tiruvuru constituencies.
Addressing a public meeting as part of the programme, the CM said the TDP-led government was “fulfilling” every promise made in the elections and doing “justice” to every vote cast for it.
“In AP (Andhra Pradesh), the double engine sarkar (govt) is moving ahead with development programmes at jet speed,” he said.
On the distribution of documents, the CM said he was happy to distribute them to 60,000 poor people — 28,000 in Vizag, 26,000 in Vijayawada, and 5,800 in Mangalagiri.
“I am happy to give land worth Rs 52,000 crore to the poor, this is an honour to them,” he said.
According to the CM, the value of each plot linked to the distributed documents ranges between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 2 crore.
Naidu claimed that the previous YSRCP government between 2019 and 2024 had created disputes in “every household” on assets.
Further, the TDP supremo underscored that the coalition government has already spent Rs 1.5 lakh crore on development works.
On irrigation, the CM said Rs 35,000 crore will be spent on 36 projects over the next three years.
Naidu alleged that the previous government had burdened people with Rs 32,000 crore power charges and reminded that the NDA alliance government has “lived up” to its promise of “not hiking” power tariff.
Citing a report released by the Union Ministry of Statistics on women’s workforce participation, he said that Visakhapatnam ranks first with 42 women employed for every 100 people.
In Vijayawada, he said this figure stands at 37 women for every 100 people.
“We are marketing products manufactured by DWCRA women under their own brand. We have already completed (building) 5.5 lakh houses and are preparing to provide another 5.5 lakh houses within the coming year. The coalition government is committed to ensuring that a very poor family has a house site, a house and a tap-water connection,” the Chief Minister said.
Further criticising the previous YSRCP government, Naidu alleged that it wrote letters to the World Bank to prevent funding for the Amaravati greenfield capital city project and resorted to various forms of protest, including “setting fire to sugarcane fields.”
They (YSRCP) described Amaravati as a cremation ground and promoted the idea of three capitals, he said, adding that even on the day Amaravati received legal recognition in Parliament, they started another campaign under the name of MAVIGAN – Machilipatnam, Vijayawada and Guntur areas as the capital city.
“Regardless of such opposition, Amaravati will emerge as one of the finest capital cities. Amaravati is being developed as a Blue City, with 50 per cent green cover. The entire electricity requirement of the capital will be met through green energy, and we are developing it as a net-zero city,” he said.
