Lucknow, Jul 1 (PTI) Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday launched the party’s online membership drive, urging people to strengthen the party’s “PDA” (Pichhde, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) social coalition by enrolling through its mobile application.

The launch of the campaign coincided with Yadav’s 53rd birthday.

Announcing the initiative in a post on X, Yadav said, “‘PDA Prasar Samajwadi Party Sadasyata Abhiyan’ begins from today. Through the Samajwadi Party App, people can now become members online.” Calling it a continuous campaign, he said it would connect every “‘peedit, dukhi aur apmaanit’ (victim, distressed and humiliated)” person with the party’s socialist values and strengthen the “PDA family”.

Appealing to citizens across Uttar Pradesh and the country, Yadav said, “Become a member yourself from home through this app, inspire others to join and help them enrol as well.” Making a special appeal to the youth, he said, “For a brighter future, become a member and encourage your family and relatives to do the same.” Yadav said the new members would propagate the party’s ideology and commitments through “‘sampark, samvaad aur sahayata’ (contact, dialogue and assistance)”.

“They will also provide us the positive strength of unity enriched with ‘prem, daya aur apanapan’ (love, compassion and belongingness), which will ensure the achievement of our ultimate goal of bringing ‘the rule of social justice’ and making India a ‘bandhu rashtra’ (friendly nation),” he said.
