New Delhi: A 2 day medical camp was organised by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in collaboration with the AIIMS New Delhi from 29-30 April on the remote islands of Kavaratti and Androth of the Union Territory (UT) Lakshadweep, a PIB press release stated.
Around 1,500 people from each island participated in the camp. Free medicines were provided to all, along with expert consultations. The medical team consisted of 15 specialist doctors from fields of Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neurology, Dermatology, Orthopedic, and more.
The camp’s goal was to provide super-specialist medical coverage in the remote islands, as well as to assist local people through consultations with domain experts.
Basic life support (BLS) lectures were also delivered to local medical professionals to improve the standards of available medical infrastructure. The camp was launched by Dr M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, Delhi. The AIIMS New Delhi and the UT administration also supported the conduct of the camp.
