Chennai, Jul 1 (PTI) AIADMK will be holding a state-level advisory meeting of its women’s wing here on Wednesday to review ongoing party development works and plan the role of women in the party’s growth.

The meeting, which will be held at the party headquarters at Royapettah in Chennai, will be chaired by party General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami.

AIADMK sources said that the women’s wing’s performance in the recent Assembly elections and the role of the wing in the future party development initiatives will be discussed in the meeting, In the April 23 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK could secure only 47 seats and was pushed to third position after DMK. Post-election, the party had to face factionalism and dissent from within, as a result of which, a faction of 23 party MLAs led by S P Velumani and C Ve Shanmugam supported the TVK government in the floor test soon after the Vijay-led government assumed office, defying party whip.

Palaniswami will preside over the meeting and address the participants. Senior AIADMK spokesperson, Sathyalaya Ramakrishnan, said that party senior members such as S P Velumani, Natham Viswanathan and K P Munusamy are likely to attend the meeting.

The meeting will bring together a vast contingent of women leaders, including state executives of the women’s wing, district women’s wing secretaries, district joint secretaries and elected women members of the party general council and women party spokespersons. PTI SNR SNR ADB
