Bhopal, Apr 23 (PTI) A day after the party issued him a notice, BJP MLA Pritam Lodhi, whose son was involved in a case of road accident, on Thursday expressed regret over his remarks against an IPS officer.

“Henceforth, I will mind my words and follow the party’s guidelines,” Lodhi told news agencies including PTI after meeting Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Madhya Pradesh BJP president Hemant Khandelwal.

He felt hurt after police took his son to the court in a procession, and he made certain remarks in that context, the MLA said.

An SUV allegedly driven by Lodhi’s son Dinesh hit five persons in Shivpuri on April 16, leaving them injured.

According to eyewitnesses, Dinesh Lodhi was taken to the court by police like any accused and not like a VIP.

“If my words hurt any official, I express remorse. The government runs with the cooperation of officers,” Pritam Lodhi said, adding that he has also submitted a reply to the notice and sought a probe into the entire incident.

In the notice, Khandelwal termed the MLA’s conduct as “highly inappropriate” and not in line with party discipline, seeking an explanation within three days.

Following the April 16 accident, a video surfaced where Pritam Lodhi purportedly threatened Karera area Sub Divisional Officer of Police Ayush Jakhar, saying he would mobilise supporters to surround the officer’s residence and fill his bungalow with cow dung.

The state unit of the Indian Police Service Association termed the remarks indecent and sought action against the MLA. PTI LAL KRK
