Guwahati, May 3 (PTI) The Advanced Neurosurgical Operation Theatre Facility was inaugurated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati on Sunday to strengthen super-specialty healthcare services in the North East region.
The state-of-the-art facility was formally inaugurated by AIIMS, Guwahati Executive Director Prof (Dr) Ashok Puranik in the presence of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited’s (PGCIL) Senior General Manager Surendra Kumar Majhi.
The advanced neurosurgical OT was established with financial support of Rs 6.5 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, an official release said.
The funding enabled procurement of cutting-edge neurosurgical equipment aimed at enhancing precision, safety, and outcomes in complex brain and spine surgeries.
Prof Puranik highlighted the importance of such collaborations in advancing healthcare infrastructure in emerging institutions and emphasised the institute’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible care to the people of the North-East.
Majhi pointed out PGCIL’s commitment to contributing towards societal development through impactful CSR initiatives, particularly in the healthcare sector.
The newly established facility is expected to significantly improve the management of complex neurosurgical conditions and cater to the growing patient load at AIIMS Guwahati, a major referral centre for the entire North-East region, the release added. PTI DG DG RG
