Gorakhpur (UP), Jul 23 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday performed Rudrabhishek at the Mansarovar temple here, on the occasion of Shravan Shivratri, invoking blessings from Lord Shiva for the prosperity and happiness of citizens.
Adityanath, who is also the Goraksha Peethadhishwar poured water, milk and sugarcane juice on the shivalinga as part of the ritual, an official statement issued here said.
The ritual was conducted by the priests of the Gorakhnath Temple, who chanted the Mahamantras from the Rudrashtadhyayi of the Shukla Yajurveda Samhita.
After the Rudrabhishek, the chief minister performed a “havan” and “aarti”, accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras, the statement added.
He prayed for a life of good health, happiness, prosperity, and peace for the people of the state, it said.
