Lucknow, Jul 26 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several senior BJP leaders on Sunday paid tributes to the indomitable courage and unparalleled valour of soldiers on Kargil Vijay Diwas.
In a post on X, Adityanath said, “Heartiest greetings to everyone on Kargil Vijay Diwas. This day is an immortal symbol of the valour, sacrifice and patriotism of our brave soldiers.” Paying homage to soldiers, he added, “Salute to all the immortal heroes of the Indian Army who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. Jai Hind.” Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the culmination of Operation Vijay on July 26, 1999. The operation was started by the Army to regain Indian territories in the Kargil district captured by Pakistani troops.
Union Minister of State for Finance and BJP’s Uttar Pradesh president Pankaj Chaudhary said, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay my heartfelt respects to the immortal heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the motherland.” Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said Kargil Vijay Diwas was an occasion to salute the “indomitable courage, unparalleled valour, unwavering resolve and unflinching patriotism” of the Indian armed forces.
Referring to Operation Vijay, Maurya said, “In 1999, through Operation Vijay, our brave soldiers displayed unmatched courage in defending the motherland and took India’s glory to new heights.” “The sacrifice and bravery of all the immortal heroes who laid down their lives in defence of Bharat Mata will always remain a source of inspiration for every Indian. Jai Hind,” he added.
