Pithoragarh, Jun 18 (PTI) The Pithoragarh district administration in Uttarakhand has issued a safety advisory for Adi Kailash pilgrims in view of the upcoming monsoon season, officials said on Thursday.

Pilgrims have been advised not to travel beyond Dharchula towards Adi Kailash or down from Gunji towards Dharchula after 4 pm.

Dharchula Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashish Joshi said a decision in this regard was taken to ensure the safety of pilgrims and locals travelling in the high-altitude Himalayan region during monsoon.

Travelling from Dharchula towards Vyas or Darma valleys after 4 pm could be risky. According to the official, rains could activate landslide zones in the valleys.

More than 44,000 pilgrims have visited Adi Kailash since the journey began on May 1 this year. PTI DPT AKY AKY MNK MNK
