6 people killed in UP as speeding truck hits pick up van

Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the accident & issued a directive to give Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured person.

Etawah: Six people were killed and one was injured when a pickup van was hit by a speeding truck at the Bakewar vegetable market here, police said on Wednesday.

“The accident took place around 10 pm on Tuesday at the Bakewar sabji mandi (vegetable market),” Senior Superintendent of Police, Etawah, Akash Tomar said.

The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Yadav (42), Raju Porwal (30), Jagdish Kushwaha (30), Jageshwar Kushwaha (28), Mahesh Kushwaha (40) and driver Brijesh Kushwaha (35), he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident and issued a directive to give Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured person, an government official said.

He has also directed that the injured be given adequate treatment, the official added.
