New Delhi: In a bid to enhance connectivity, boost economic growth, and generate employment, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved three multi-tracking railway projects today. These projects, with a total estimated cost of Rs. 7,927 crore, will be completed in four years.

The approved projects include Jalgaon-Manmad 4th line (160 km), Bhusawal-Khandwa 3rd & 4th line (131 km), Prayagraj (Iradatganj)-Manikpur 3rd line (84 km)

These projects will add approximately 639 kilometers to the existing Indian Railways network, spanning seven districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. They aim to alleviate congestion on crucial routes, particularly between Mumbai and Prayagraj, facilitating smoother movement of passengers and goods.

The projects will generate direct employment for about lakh human days during the construction period. They are a part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity and will contribute to the Prime Minister’s vision of a self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) New India.

The projects will enhance connectivity to two Aspirational Districts (Khandwa and Chitrakoot), serving approximately 1,319 villages and about 38 lakh people. They will also promote tourism by improving access to the Khajuraho UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ajanta & Ellora Caves UNESCO World Heritage Site, Devgiri Fort, Asirgarh Fort, Rewa Fort, Yawal Wildlife Sanctuary, Keoti Falls, and Purwa Falls.
