New Delhi: Three personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed Tuesday in an ambush by Naxals in Odisha’s Nuapada district.

Several jawans have been injured, officials said.

According to information, the deceased were part of a group giving protection to road-construction workers when Naxals attacked around 2.30 pm Tuesday.

The Director General of Police expressed condolences to the families and vowed to hunt down the elusive Naxals, according to the force.

Officials said the CRPF strongly fought back but could not catch the Naxals.

The jawans killed were assistant sub-inspectors Shishupal Singh and Shiv Lal and constable Dharmendra Kumar Singh.

The state announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh to each of the deceased jawans’ families.
