Jaipur, Apr 23 (PTI) Three people were charred to death and five seriously injured when an SUV burst into flames after colliding with a dumper truck in Churu district of Rajasthan late Thursday night, police said.

The accident occurred on the Pilani-Sadulpur road in the Hamirwas police station area.

Station House Officer (SHO) Rai Singh Suthar said some people were returning in a Churu-registered Bolero after attending a wedding in Pilani when the SUV collided with the dumper truck and caught fire.

The injured were pulled out of the two vehicles with the help of locals and rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment, he said.

Suthar said the accident led to a long traffic jam and vehicles had to be diverted to ease the congestion.

IPS officer Abhijit Patil said the identification of the deceased was difficult as the bodies were charred in the fire.

“Identification will be possible only through DNA testing, the process for which has been initiated,” he said.

Police are also investigating the cause of the accident, he said. PTI AG DIV DIV
