Latur, May 20 (PTI) Amid water shortage in certain rural areas of Maharashtra’s Latur district, the administration has deployed two tankers and begun utilising 63 wells and borewells to ensure drinking water supply to people, officials said on Wednesday.
Tanker water supply has been approved for Shivaji Nagar Tanda, Waghmari Tanda, and Gavhan village in Jalkot tehsil. Two government tankers are making four trips daily at full capacity to the affected areas, they said.
In other tehsils where tanker supply is not yet required but water scarcity is being experienced, the administration has arranged supply by “acquiring” private wells and borewells.
At present, a total of 63 wells and borewells have been acquired across the district, said officials.
They added that District Collector Bharat Bastewad on Tuesday reviewed the progress of ongoing water supply schemes and works under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a central programme, in the district. PTI COR NR
