New Delhi, Mar 2 (PTI) The Delhi Police has arrested two persons for allegedly killing a 27-year-old man following a quarrel in south Delhi’s Hauz Khas area, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused have been identified as Deepak Kumar (31) and Himanshu Kumar (24), both residents of Gautam Nagar here, they said.

After receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and found the body of the deceased, identified as Shivam Pandey, lying there, officials said.

The police analysed the footage from CCTV cameras and found that Pandey along with five to six of his friends had come to the house of a man named Sanjeev in Gautam Nagar area, they said.

When he was talking to Sanjeev, four men came from inside the house and started firing at Pandey who tried to escape. However, the four men chased him and after Pandey fell down, one of them fired three rounds at his head and fled, a senior police officer said.

On Tuesday, the police laid a trap at Gulmohar Park here and nabbed Deepak and Himanshu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Benita Mary Jaiker said.

Interrogation revealed that Pandey had called Deepak one day in a very “insulting manner” following which both of them called their associates and a fight broke out between them, the police said.

Deepak found out that Pandey and his friends were looking for him and had even visited his house. So, Deepak decided to kill Pandey, the police said.

Deepak brought two pistols and Himanshu brought one firearm and shared their plan to kill Pandey with Sanjeev, police said.

When Pandey came to Sanjeev’s house, Deepak and his associates fired at him. Two country-made pistols were recovered from the two accused, police added. PTI NIT NIT TDS TDS
