Mumbai, Sep 6 (PTI) Four persons, including two children, were injured after an LPG cylinder caught fire inside a room in Mumbai’s Dharavi area, officials said on Sunday.

The incident occurred around midnight in the room of a two-storey structure on Sion-Dharavi Link Road near Rajiv Gandhi Sports Club, they said.

The blaze was confined to the LPG cylinder and was extinguished by locals by 12.10 am, before the fire brigade reached the spot, a civic official said.

Two children, aged 4 and 5, and two other persons, aged 19 and 30, suffered burn injuries. They were shifted to Sion Hospital in a police van before the fire brigade arrived at the spot, the official said.

Another major blaze was reported at a godown on the ground floor of the one-storey Saraswati Bhavan on Lamington Road at 11.33 pm on Saturday.

The fire brigade managed to control the blaze after more than eight hours of efforts. No injuries were reported in the incident, another civic official said. PTI KK GK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
