New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Bharatiya Janata Party workers on the party’s 42nd Foundation Day Wednesday.
Several Union ministers and party leaders attended the meeting at the Parliament House’s Annexe building in New Delhi, where Modi claimed the Opposition’s ‘dynasty politics’ had harmed the country and let the youth down.
“For decades in our country, some political parties did only vote bank politics and made promises to only a few people, and kept the rest starving,” Modi said. “Discrimination and corruption, these are the side effects of vote bank politics. The BJP has not only given competition to this vote bank politics, but it has also been successful in explaining its disadvantages to the countrymen.”
The party’s MPs and party workers were seen wearing saffron caps — the newly-designed one that Modi wore at a roadshow in Ahmedabad. The caps are produced in Gujarat.
BJP goes into its Foundation Day celebrations on a high note after its performance in last month’s assembly elections. It retained the four states it already governed — Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur.
