Social media claims this video is of people fighting on Eid. Here’s the fact

Social media users, including one belonging to a verified Twitter handle, shared the video claiming members of a family were engaged in a fight on Eid.

New Delhi: A video circulating on social media shows a group of people engaged in a fight. Many users who have shared the clip said it was during Eid celebrations in Birmingham, UK.

David Vance, editor of Alt News Media, also shared the video Monday with his verified Twitter handle. Claiming it was a fight during an Eid celebration, he wrote: “Delightful street scene as #EidMubarak is celebrated with great joy.”

His tweet has been liked over 7,000 times and 3,700 people have retweeted it.The video has also been viewed over 1.25 lakh times.

Another user, named Harvington, has shared the video and it has received over 75 likes and 50 retweets.

One user wondered if this fight could be the beginning of the second wave of coronavirus.

Many users from India have also shared it, accusing people in the video of violating the rules of social distancing while celebrating Eid.

Fact check

The video is not a recent one. It was uploaded on YouTube in August 2019. The description of the video claims the fight took place due to some disagreement in a family.

The clip has nothing to do with Eid, or with flouting the rules of social distancing amid the coronavirus crisis.
