New Delhi: As active cases continue to rise across the country, daily positivity in Maharashtra has increased to 23 per cent.
Meanwhile, the overall test positivity rate across the country is also increasing steadily.
Daily Cases

In the last 24 hours, 47,262 people across the country tested positive for Covid-19. Maharashtra continues to report the highest number of new cases every day.
Daily vaccinations

With 23,46,692 doses given in the last 24 hours, a total of 5,08,41,286 vaccine doses have been administered in India so far.
As many as 81,09,334 people have received both doses of the vaccine in India so far.
Active cases

Active cases in India increased to 3,68,457 Tuesday — the highest since 11 December. Active cases now account for over 3 per cent of the total cases in the country.
Number of deaths

India’s Covid-19 death toll increased to 1,60,441 Wednesday, with 275 deaths reported across the country in the last 24 hours.
Mortality rate

The overall fatality rate for India is 1.37. Punjab’s case fatality reduced to 2.95 — which is still the highest in the country. Maharashtra’s CFR reduced to 2.11 while that of Sikkim is 2.17.
Daily tests

In the last 24 hours, 10,25,628 Covid-19 tests were conducted across 1,226 government laboratories and 1,199 private laboratories. Over 23.6 crore tests have been carried out in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
Positivity rate

With an increase in the number of new cases, the test positivity increased to 4.6 per in the last 24 hours. While the test positivity is still below 10 per cent, it is now steadily increasing throughout the country.
The overall positivity, calculated since the beginning of the pandemic, is 4.9 per cent.
Maharashtra is an outlier when it comes to positivity rate. The state’s positivity was as high as 23 per cent yesterday, indicating that it needs to ramp up its testing to arrest the spread of the disease. 1.2 lakh tests were carried out in Maharashtra yesterday.
Recovered cases

As many as 23,907 patients have been discharged from Covid-19 hospitals across India in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,12,05,160.
Total cases

As many as 1,17,34,058 people in India have been infected with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. The largest number of cases so far have been reported from Maharashtra, followed by Kerala and Karnataka.
States with highest active cases

Maharashtra reported 28,699 new Covid cases yesterday. This brings the total number of active cases in the state to 2,31,942.
A total of 25,33,026 cases of Covid-19 have been reported from the state since the beginning of the pandemic.
Of these, 53,589 people have died, with 132 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
In Kerala, active Covid-19 cases reduced to 24,192. Since yesterday, the state has reported 1,985 new cases of Covid-19.
This takes the total number of cases detected from the state to 11,07,452 since the beginning of the pandemic. With 10 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the state’s Covid-19 death toll increased to 4,517.
In Punjab, active cases increased to 19,403, with 2,254 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
A total of 2,17,663 people in the state have reported to be Covid-19 positive since the beginning of the pandemic. With 53 deaths in the last 24 hours, the state’s Covid-19 death toll increased to 6,435.
Karnataka reported 2,010 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, as a result of which active cases in the state increased to 15,614. A total of 9,73,657 Covid-19 cases have been reported from the state since the beginning of the pandemic.
With 5 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the state’s death toll increased to 12,449.
Chhattisgarh reported 1,910 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The state currently has 10,491 active cases. This brings the total number of cases detected from the state to 3,27,588.
The state reported 20 deaths in the last 24 hours, which takes the Covid-19 death toll to 3,982.
