New Delhi: Babar Azam is Pakistan’s new Salman Khan. Fans are sad about their favourite cricketer’s singlehood. They are now rallying on social media for his ‘quick nikaah’ so that he can travel abroad for tournaments with his wife. The Pakistan team left Lahore on Thursday to play against Australia and one visual has now gained Azam social media solidarity.

In a short clip, the players are seen at the airport. While other players had their wives in tow, Azam was seen carrying his suitcase and walking alone. Many were quick to draw comparisons with Salman Khan’s entry at filmmaker Karan Johar’s 50th birthday party in 2022, walking alone while others came in with their partners.

“Babar Azam recreating Salman Khan’s legendary moment,” a tweet read, accompanied by a clip of the video, with an Indian indie pop song about heartbreak, playing in the background—Soniye Hiriye.

Another tweet had a collage of Azam and Khan walking. The post read, “Same energy”.

Comments ranged from concern to anger— “Azam would soon find a good wife but why do the players seem to be going to their honeymoon and not a tournament? Are they going on a family vacation?” one asked.

Ache log single hi ache lagte hain (Good people are better single),” a user wrote while another said, “This too shall pass. Pls don’t make fun of him”. Azam has recently resigned as the captain of Pakistan’s men’s cricket team in all formats.

Another fan took Azam’s side and called him too young to be made fun of for being single. Laughing at Azam will not be tolerated by his fans.

Babar’s Bollywood connect

Pakistan loves Azam and Bollywood.

Earlier, his recently purchased purple Lamborghini reminded people of Ajay Devgn’s Taarzan — The Wonder Car due to its striking resemblance.

“Babar drives it during the day. Ajay Devgan’s ghost drives it at night,” tweeted a user and the internet could not stop after that. One user asked, “Doesn’t that mean Babar Azam is Ajay Devgan’s son?”

On Thursday, a new debate took place. Did Azam drive an Audi to the airport? Visuals on the internet show him arriving in a car behind other players. The caption read, “King Babar Azam Dabang entry with Audi for Australia tour departure. Just King behaviour”

“This is not an Audi, it’s a Sonata,” a fan soon flagged. Another called his fans fake for not knowing that it was not an Audi.

One user asked, “Do Pakistanis lack intellect?”

“I am surprised at your intellect? Does coming in an Audi make someone a king?” a user asked.
