New Delhi: In an apparent show of solidarity with the Palestinians, some Pakistanis vandalised a KFC outlet in the Rawalpindi military garrison town. The violence in supposedly the most secure locality in the country has given Pakistanis a free run to float their theories. They have blamed the ‘military-mullah alliance’ and called Pakistan a jungle.
In the video, some men can be seen cursing people and vandalising the shop, asking customers to leave. People, including a few elderly women, can be seen scurrying away in fear.
“Which investor will come to this Pakistan without the Rule of Law? Scene of gangsterism apparently against Israel in a KFC outlet in Rawalpindi Military Garrison town? Not far from Army HQ,” Moeed Pirzada, CEO and editor at Global Village Space, wrote on X.
The incident came days after Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) followers vandalised a similar fast food outlet in Rawalpindi. Ten people were arrested after a mob attacked a KFC outlet in Karachi’s DHA on Tuesday evening, Dawn reported. Around 40 young protestors, armed with sticks and stones, vandalised the restaurant in response to US and Israeli actions in Gaza. The attacks followed a trader-led strike in Karachi in solidarity with Palestinians.

Jungle, hell, abyss
Pakistanis think the army is out to buy the American food joint. “An Army general is trying to buy this KFC. These men are sent by the Pakistan Army Mafia. Now KFC will be forced to sell this to that Army Officer. Just like Cola Next has been acquired,” X user Sophia wrote.

Others believe that the military-cleric nexus is pushing Pakistan into an abyss.
“It’s hard to believe, but here we are – the military-mullah alliance has pushed Pakistan to the brink. We may have just one last chance to pull this nuclear-armed Islamic nation of 250 million back from the edge,” X user @pakistanwalli wrote.
“My lame theory, they wouldn’t do this without the support of ISI or whatever you call them. Palestine flag is just a deception. Remember, just lately JI, a hardcore pawn of Generals, held protests and rallies in Gaza. They have zero influence on that genocide, they have 0 contribution in Pakistan’s prosperity. It all comes across as calculated distraction using multi pronged approach,” wrote @ScorpWarrior.
A parody account of Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif had a humorous take: “I must hire these individuals to collect protection money on my behalf.”
All in all, there was a consensus: “This country is a jungle now.”
The incident reminded an X user of hell.
“Threatening citizens, abusing them, making financial losses and then thinking why Pakistan is in hell,” they wrote, while a comment on Instagram simply said, “Jahalat [illiteracy] at its peak”.
