New Delhi: During a recent concert in Manchester, Diljit Dosanjh gifted a pair of shoes to a Pakistani fan, making a powerful statement about unity and love that transcends political boundaries. His heartfelt words won hearts across the subcontinent.

“Love you paaji,” actor Khaqan Shahnawaz wrote on Instagram, while another user said, “The speech about pakistan and india melted my heart.”

Hindustan, Pakistan, sade layi sara ek hi hai. So jede mere desh to aye ne, India ton aye ne, una nu vi swagat niga, te jede Pakistan ton aye ne, una nu vi swagat niga,” he said.

The singer said that he doesn’t differentiate between India and Pakistan. He added that borders are made by politicians, but Punjabis, no matter the side of the border they’re from, are the same. He thanked both Indians and Pakistanis for attending his concert and welcomed them all.

Diljit for PM

Diljit’s message resonated deeply with fans from both sides of the border, as he reminded them that the real bonds are rooted in cultural identity rather than geopolitical divisions.

Social media is abuzz with reactions to Diljit’s unifying message. One user wrote on X, “Diljit is on a path that may soon see him as a combined PM candidate for Pakistan and India.”

Another X user wrote, The Lahori in me just had to go listen to this Punjabi cuz good music is just so hard to find! Mind blowing, epic, phenomenal, spectacular, absolutely insane!!Diljit, Manchester loves you, so does Pakistan! Thank you for sharing the love!”

One user simply wrote, “Incredible evening!”

However, there were some who chose to be sarcastic.

Pakistani Punjabis are embracing the Punjabi ethnicity, proudly claiming the language and heritage,” a user wrote on X. He added that they are “no longer ashamed” and are reconnecting with their roots, which may lead them “back to Sikhism, inspiring a return to the ancestral faith”.

A user replied to the post, stating that Sikhism isn’t the ancestral faith of the vast majority of Punjabi Muslims. “You could say it’s more linked to the native land’s philosophy, but Punjab has had Islam and been majority Islam for over 500 years,” he wrote.

“I was being sarcastic,” was the reply.

  1. If Punjabis from both sides are the same, then Mr. Diljit Dosanjh might as well apply for Pakistani citizenship.
One less Khalistani for India to worry about.
