New Delhi: Bollywood is bracing for a battle of vampires at the box office after teasers of Thama and Vampires Saga: Part 1 dropped within 24 hours on Monday. While Thama is the next installment in the Maddock Horror Universe—Stree, Bhediya and Munjya — Vampires Saga is directed by debutant Zuber K Khan.
Vampires Saga teaser has, however, failed to impress viewers, going by the reactions it has received online. The film is already being ridiculed for its seemingly outdated VFX. One user wrote on Instagram, “S’harm nahi aati essi films banate hue aaj ke time mein 1990 ke VFX (Aren’t you ashamed of using outdated 1990s VFX today?).”
The film will be released on 10 October 2025.
Another social media user accused the makers of having copied Thama itself. ‘Thama from meesho’.
By Tuesday, however, Thama’s teaser had eclipsed any mention of Vampires Saga.
Maddock Films released the teaser at 11:11 am, considered an auspicious time, on YouTube and its social media pages.
The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, along with Paresh Rawal and Faisal Malik.
Thama marks the first-ever love story in the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe and the fourth installment of its slate.
“Na darr kabhi itna shaktishaali tha, aur na pyaar kabhi itna BLOODY! Brace yourself this Diwali to witness the first love story in the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. Step into the World of Thama, a cinematic experience unlike anything you’ve seen before, storming into cinemas worldwide. #Thama Teaser Out Now!” was the caption on Maddock Films’ official Instagram page.

Maddock’s Diwali offering
In the film, Mandanna is playing a vampire Tadaka, protecting the human Alok, played by Khurrana. The voiceover in the teaser has Alok asking Tadaka if she can survive 100 years without him, and she responds that she cannot bear to be away from him even for a moment.
The teaser packs in a past-and-present contrast, bats and even a bear, with a flash of an item song featuring Malaika Arora Khan. It ends with Siddiqui as Yakshasan seated atop a wall, cracking a joke before attacking someone seated below.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film is set to release on Diwali 2025.
