Mumbai, Sep 5 (PTI) Singer-composer Kailash Kher is set to return to the romantic genre with his new single “Tham Jaa”, a song that explores love, longing and the fear of losing a cherished moment.

Written, composed and performed by Kher, the song will be released across streaming platforms on September 7 under Kailasa Records, followed by its music video on September 11.

“’Tham Jaa’ is a plea to love to stay, to pause, and to not let a beautiful moment slip away. It speaks of the vulnerability of knowing that a moment, a relationship, or the presence of someone special may not last forever, and wishing, even for a little while, that they would simply ‘tham jaa’,” Kher said in a statement.

“Tham Jaa” combines Kher’s signature vocal style, rooted in Indian folk, devotional and semi-classical traditions, with contemporary instrumentation.

According to Kher, known for popular songs such as “Allah Ke Bande”, “Teri Deewani” and “Saiyyan”, the song’s lyrics use imagery of longing and transformation, gradually moving beyond conventional romance into the territory of prayer.

Music arranger Paresh Kamath plays electric guitar on the track, while Kurt Peters has contributed live drums. Tapas Roy has added the sounds of rabab and saz, alongside Rinku Rajput on keys and José Neil Gomes on violin.

Naresh and Paresh Kamath have provided backing vocals.

The single has been presented by Kailasa Advertising Private Limited and released under Kher’s label Kailasa Records. PTI RB RB RB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
