New Delhi: Riding high on the success of his Dil-Luminati tour, Diljit Dosanjh Thursday dropped the teaser of his upcoming single Don, which features a voiceover by Shah Rukh Khan on YouTube.

While performing in Kolkata on 30 November, the singer gave a shout-out to Kolkata Knight Riders. Referring to ‘Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo’, the slogan of the actor’s IPL team, he said in Hindi, “This is a very good tagline. Is this KKR’s? It’s very nice. I would have liked it anyway because it is Shah Rukh Khan sir’s team and we are his fans. It’s a very good mantra that you work hard, fight, and whether you win or not, is a different matter”.

Khan responded to the singer. “Thank you for bringing joy to the City of Joy, @diljitdosanjh Paaji. I’m sure all at @KKRiders and their fans love the Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo reference. All the best and have a great tour…. Love u,” wrote the actor on X.

An old connection

It was Khan, who had recommended Dosanjh for Imtiaz Ali’s film Amar Singh Chamkila, which was released on Netflix earlier this year. On The Kapil Sharma Show, the filmmaker mentioned that SRK believes the Punjabi singer is one of the most gifted actors of his time.

Dosanjh won the Best Actor (Male) at the recent Filmfare OTT Awards for his role in the film.

The teaser has visuals of Dosanjh on a helicopter, a boat and more. The voiceover for the 31-second video starts with Khan saying, “Purani kahawat hai ki sabse upper jana hai toh bahut sari mehnat chahiye, lekin agar sabse upper tikna hai, toh maa ki dua chahiye” (It takes hard work to climb the ladder of success. But to reach the top, one needs mother’s blessings).

Then he recites a version of the iconic dialogue from Don, the 2006 film. “Tumhara mujh tak pahuchna mushkil hi nahin mamumkin hai, kyuki dhool kitni bhi unchi kyun na chali jaye, asmaan ko ganda nahi kar sakti” (It is not just difficult, but impossible to reach me because no matter how high the dust rises, it can never taint the skies).

The video was directed by Rahul Dutta, who was also behind the video of Dosanjh’s immensely popular song Lover. It was released three years ago and has 155 million views on YouTube. With his latest single, Dosanjh has tipped his hat to Don, and fans clearly can’t wait.
