New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh is finally being political. In an Instagram story posted on Tuesday, he condemned the way students were treated at the Jantar Mantar protest, and urged the authorities to listen to the protesters’ demands. “People’s voice is God’s voice,” the singer wrote in Punjabi.
Earlier this month, during an Instagram live session, when asked about his views on the ongoing protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Dosanjh said he was unaware of any protest and urged his fans to keep him out of such matters.
“What kind of protest is underway at Jantar Mantar?” he asked in Punjabi.
“Keep me away from all this… Bro, I’m an artist. I’m no politician, I don’t know what you think I am,” Diljit added.
Laughing, he congratulated those who were protesting and those for whom the protest was being held. During the session, he also said that everything cannot be good in this world.
On Tuesday, he wrote that he had already been called “anti-national” many times, and said that after the farmers’ protest, he faced a lot of backlash and legal cases, “which I can’t even discuss”.

Kangana to Satluj
Diljit’s comments came after the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march organised by the CJP on Monday, which drew thousands of protesters from across the country. During the farmers’ protests in 2020, Dosanjh visited the Singhu border and urged the Central government to accept farmers’ demands. He also praised the peaceful nature of the gathering.
Dosanjh had also donated Rs 1 crore to provide winter clothes to protesting farmers, which was revealed by Punjabi singer Singga on his Instagram Stories.
At that time, a Twitter fight had also erupted between Kangana Ranaut and Dosanjh, where the actress called Dosanjh a “pet” of Karan Johar.
Dosanjh has continued to remain at the centre of controversies. Recently, his film Satluj was removed from ZEE5 in India after two days of its release, before being taken down internationally.
