New Delhi: Delhi Police has denied permission for Diljit Dosanjh’s concert on 30 October at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, citing security concerns. The show was supposed to kick off the India leg of his Aura World Tour.
The Hindustan Times reported that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) wrote to organiser BookMyShow in response to its application on 14 October.
“In view of the specific threat related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law & order commitments arising out of the ongoing festive season and other important law & order concerns, the same cannot be acceded to,” the letter said.
The police did not explain what the threats were.
Dosanjh and BookMyShow are yet to announce a cancellation or a new date. The concert was still listed on BookMyShow Thursday afternoon, with tickets starting at Rs 6,499. There has been no announcement about refunds, either.
Not the first shuffle
The concert has already been rescheduled once. It was originally supposed to take place on 1 November, but Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney asked Dosanjh to change the date because it falls on the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence.
“For thousands of families, those days are still full of grief. Please ask your team to move the Delhi show at JLN Stadium scheduled for 1st nov to another date. Honour the memory, then celebrate the music,” Sahney wrote on X.
Dosanjh and the organisers agreed to move the show to 30 October. At the time, BookMyShow said tickets bought for 1 November would remain valid for the new date. Those who couldn’t attend on 30 October could request a refund.
The Delhi show is part of Dosanjh’s seven-city Aura India Tour. He is also scheduled to perform in Indore on 15 November, Ahmedabad on 21 November, Mumbai on 27 November, Bengaluru on 29 November, and Lucknow on 5 December. A Chandigarh concert is also planned, although the date hasn’t been announced.
Dosanjh last toured India in 2024 with his Dil-Luminati Tour. He has since been performing internationally as part of the Aura World Tour. The organisers have not yet said whether they will seek fresh permission for the Delhi concert or reschedule it.
