New Delhi: In Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Bobby Deol intimidates producers to secure an ideal launch for his daughter. A TV show host showers praise on star kids. Aamir Khan and SS Rajamouli debate who will bring the Mahabharata to the screen first. And Shah Rukh Khan is referred to as ‘ghante ka baadshah’.
The upcoming show’s trailer highlights the grime and guts behind the glitz of Bollywood. And ironically, it took a star kid to spill the beans.
“Too filmy to be real. Too real to be filmy. Watch The Ba***ds of Bollywood, out on 18 September only on Netflix,” read the caption of the trailer, announced on Netflix and Aryan Khan’s official Instagram handle.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood marks Aryan Khan’s directorial debut. The seven-episode Netflix series is bankrolled by Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
The trailer promises to be a satirical take on the Hindi film industry with a heavy dose of humour, catchy one-liners, and drama.
It begins with the story of an outsider who dreams of becoming a Bollywood star. Through his journey, the storyline touches upon various real-life Bollywood incidents that have made headlines over the years: the nepotism debate, drug raids, fights between producers, and more.
Film critic Ramesh Bala lauds Aryan Khan for pulling off a grand project, considering it is his debut show.
“It appears that the ‘BTS of Bollywood’ has come out well. He has covered a lot of typical Bollywood things… with A-listers and lavish production values, it hits the Bullseye,” Bala told ThePrint.
“Aryan is young. So, I wasn’t expecting something of this scale from him. He definitely surprised me,” he added.
But for film critic Sumit Kadel, the trailer was “quite average”.
“The content feels very similar to ‘Showtime’ starring Emraan Hashmi, and doesn’t seem to be anything new in terms of content or storytelling,” Kadel said.

‘OG Badshah’
The highlight of the trailer remains Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo, which was missing from the preview that took place last month. Fans were eagerly waiting for SRK’s look in his son’s debut project.
In the trailer, SRK appears toward the end, where he is called the ‘Badshah’ as the title track from his film, Baadshah (1999), plays in the background.
Minutes before his entry, however, Manoj Pahwa’s character calls him “ghante ka Badshah”, mistaking him for the singer.
The last 30 seconds of the trailer have taken the internet by storm, with fan pages obsessing over SRK’s entry and look.
“Last few seconds.. The real Badshah,” a fan wrote in the comments of Netflix’s video.
Another said: “Yes, you are the king of the hour! Your time is now!”
“The real badshah in the end,” read a comment.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood also has the three Khans: SRK, Aamir, and Salman coming together for the first time ever.
It also has cameos from Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan, SS Rajamouli, Badshah, Disha Patani, Karan Johar, and more.
