New Delhi: On the first day of the new year (and new decade), prominent celebrities are ringing in 2020 with resolutions, nostalgia and even some activism. From Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan to Virat Kohli, everyone had something to say.
After being awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke award, Indian cinema’s highest honour, Amitabh Bachchan posted a picture with his wife, actor and MP Jaya Bachchan, and four grandchildren. He even quoted some lines of poetry by his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

If the shahenshah of Bollywood is all about family in his wishes, the badshah, Shahrukh Khan, who has been lambasted quite a bit for his silence over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, tweeted out a rather cryptic New Year’s message. One wonders if he is simply hoping for kindness in 2020, or is commenting on his silence.
Not one for telling anyone how they should be…or do what should be done…or what this year & future made to be. I have so many frailties myself…that I wish may the future be kind to all of us…& we be who we are. May Allah be kind to us inspite of ourselves. Happy New Year pic.twitter.com/IJr82PrQuF

Deepika Padukone is quite busy with her upcoming film Chhapaak, which is due to be released this month, and is not wasting any opportunity to promote the movie, including in her New Year’s post.
Priyanka Chopra made life easier for everyone and posted a video that took a trip down the memory lane, highlighting the key moments of her life in the past year, including that famous Met Gala look.
Another year, another gift. Cannot wait to see what 2020 has in store. Thank you God and everyone who has blessed my life. #fullheart #newyear #gratitude pic.twitter.com/FP7Xk8SLjT

The fire of activism continues to rage in Swara Bhaskar as her New Year’s resolution is to continue her fight to “defend” the Constitution.
This Jan 1st Young India 2020 Revolution will Start!
We the Young India reiterate our resolve to fight for our sovereign, secular, democratic, socialist India!
We reject the communal, hate ridden CAA-NRC-NPR!#NewYearResolutionDefendConstitution

Director Anurag Kashyap was not far behind, as his New Year’s wish revolved around Prime Minister Modi getting ears to listen to the voices of people, and some wisdom.

Bhumi Pednekar had quite a successful 2019 with three hit films — Saand Ki Aankh, Bala, and Pati, Patni Aur Woh. No wonder she is ringing in the new year with a long message of gratitude.
Anushka Sharma had quite a star-studded New Year’s party with Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Varun Dhawan in attendance.
Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli posted a pretty “on point” picture as he welcomed 2020.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar seemed to get nostalgic this New Year as he shared a heartwarming video of a young boy playing cricket with his friends. Perhaps, he was remembering his own gully cricket days.
Start your 2020 with the inspirational video of this kid Madda Ram playing cricket ? with his friends.
It warmed my heart and I am sure it will warm yours too. pic.twitter.com/Wgwh1kLegS
