New Delhi, Oct 16 (PTI) “Mirzapur” star Ali Fazal turned showstopper for Tarun Tahiliani’s Tasva at the Lakme Fashion Week in an ivory angarkha and structured bandhgala outfit.

The actor, who turned 40 on Thursday, celebrated his birthday on the ramp with designer Rimple Narula performing a traditional aarti before his walk.

Tahiliani said the collection was about “bringing the beauty of traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary understanding of silhouette, comfort and individuality.”

“At Tasva, our approach has always been to make Indian occasion wear feel relevant to the way men dress and celebrate today… From the intricate embroidery techniques to the modern interpretation of classic sherwanis and tailoring, every element reflects our belief that tradition should continue to evolve,” he said in a statement.

“We wanted to create a wardrobe that allows the modern groom to celebrate his heritage while expressing his own personality,” he added.

Tahiliani’s collection brought together diverse artistic influences through a contemporary design language. The colour palette included plenty of beige with shades of blue, emerald and pink. Models also wore matching accessories and sunglasses as they took to the ramp.

The silhouettes offered a fresh interpretation of traditional menswear, with classic sherwanis featuring asymmetrical details and sharp tailoring, alongside sleek dinner jackets and contemporary Indo-Western ensembles.

Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI began from October 13 and will continue till October 18. PTI ATR BK

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
