New Delhi: Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2 will release in Hindi theatres alongside its other language versions on Thursday, 15 October, the film’s official representatives clarified, dismissing reports that the sequel would skip a theatrical release in the Hindi-speaking market.

“In light of recent media reports suggesting that Jailer 2 will not be releasing in Hindi, we would like to officially clarify that the film’s Hindi version is scheduled for a theatrical release on Thursday, 15th October 2026, alongside its other language versions, as originally planned,” the representatives said in a statement.

The clarification comes after reports suggested that the film would not be released in its Hindi-dubbed version in cinemas, with audiences potentially having to wait for its OTT premiere. The reports attributed the decision to the film’s streaming agreement, which was said to provide for a digital release across languages within four weeks of its theatrical debut.

BookMyShow also did not have Hindi shows for Jailer 2 earlier, which have now appeared after the statement.

The film will be distributed in North India by Pen Marudhar Entertainment and there has been no change in date for the Hindi version.

Jailer 2 cast

Along with Rajinikanth, Jailer 2 stars features Vidya Balan as an antagonist and Mithun Chakraborty, returning from the first instalment. Hrithik Roshan and Jackie Shroff are also reportedly set to make cameo appearances.

Released in 2023, Jailer earned Rs 268.87 crore at the domestic box office from its Tamil version, while the Telugu-dubbed version collected Rs 68.06 crore. The Hindi version contributed just Rs 7.24 crore.

Lately, major Tamil films, including Vijay’s Leo (2023) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie (2025), skipped theatrical releases of their Hindi-dubbed versions to secure shorter OTT release windows.
