New Delhi: Director Ram Gopal Varma and actor Manoj Bajpayee are coming together for a horror comedy, Police Station Mein Bhoot, 27 years after the 1998 cult classic Satya. The shooting for the film has begun, Bajpayee wrote in an Instagram post on Monday.

The first-look motion poster of the film, shared by Bajpayee, shows the actor dressed in the police uniform and holding a scarred, blood-soaked doll, as a chilling voice whispers, “I see you”. The tagline on the poster reads, “You can’t arrest the dead.”

“From Satya to now… some journeys are meant to come full circle. Thrilled to reunite with @rgvzoomin after nearly three decades for our new horror comedy Police Station Mein Bhoot. This one is special,” read the caption of the post.

Bajpayee also tagged his co-star Genelia Deshmukh, who shared a bit more about the picture’s theme in her own post.

“A thriller like no other, built on a chilling thought: ‘When we’re scared, we run to the police. But where do the police run when they’re scared?” wrote the Sitaare Zameen Par actor.

Past collabs

Varma and Bajpayee collaborated for films like Satya (1998), Shool (1999), Kaun? (1999), and Road (2002). Their last film together was Sarkar 3 (2017). Kaun? was a psychological horror where Bajpayee played Sameer Purnavale, who is presumed to be a serial killer in the first half of the film.

The movie also starred Urmila Matondkar and Sushant Singh.

In the thriller Road, Bajpayee again played a serial killer, who targets a young couple on the run — Vivek Oberoi and Antara Mali.

In April this year, Varma penned down a note mentioning his collaboration with Bajpayee. He described the film’s plot as being set in a police station which is haunted after an encounter. He added that the film has cutting-edge VFX and horror effects.

Police Station Mein Bhoot will be a fun-filled film that will terrify you,” wrote the director.
