New Delhi: Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has lent his voice to the Hanuman Chalisa for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1. The devotional track was released Thursday, alongside the first glimpse of Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman.

Titled Shree Hanuman Chalisa, the track features the voices of Diljit Dosanjh, Sukhwinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Kailash Kher and Shankar Mahadevan. The music has been composed by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer.

Dosanjh also shared the release on Instagram, posting a link to the track with the caption, “SHREE HANUMAN CHALISA” and “RAMAYANA IN CINEMAS NOW”.

Sunny Deol’s first glimpse as Hanuman

The release of the Hanuman Chalisa comes after audiences got their first glimpse of Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman in the post-credit sequence of Ramayana: Part 1. The makers had kept the actor’s appearance under wraps.

The sequence quickly caught viewers’ attention, with social media users flooding the comments section with reactions to Deol’s portrayal of Hanuman. Many praised his screen presence and voice, while others drew parallels with his iconic dialogues and on-screen persona.

“Most epic Hanuman I’ve ever seen… peak cinema,” one user commented.

“Ultimate character for Sunny Paaji,” another wrote.

“Dhai Kilo ka Hath… Sanjeevani Parvat be like: uth jayega,” a third user joked.

“Sunny Paaji’s voice… pure goosebumps,” another viewer commented.

Hanuman’s arrival also sets the stage for a significant part of the Ramayana story, which will unfold in the sequel, scheduled to arrive in 2028. He becomes one of the most important figures in Rama’s journey after Ravana abducts Sita. From finding her in Lanka to helping Rama prepare for the battle against Ravana, Hanuman plays a crucial role in the events that follow.

In an interview with E News, producer Namit Malhotra explained why the team has decided to take an additional year to complete the sequel.

“We have a little bit more time to do what we did in part one. That extra year is what I genuinely believe we need to do justice to a film of this size. When you see part 2 coming in, that will be a whole other story. We didn’t want to do a rush job or get ahead of ourselves. We want to deliver the finale in the most grand way that it deserves,” he said.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana: Part 1 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, alongside an ensemble cast.

The second instalment of the film is scheduled for release during Diwali 2028.
