New Delhi: Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s highly anticipated film Dhurandhar: The Revenge might be facing delays amid “last-minute” edits, according to moviegoers and theatre owners. The film, which is set for a 19 March release, is also offering paid previews on 18 March across the country.
Online speculation and X users claim that the film may be delayed and paid previews cancelled or rescheduled because Dhar received his Central Board of Film Certification approval today with 21 cuts and changes made to the final product. (moved up)
In Tamil Nadu, multiple theatres announced the cancellation of the Tamil-dubbed previews. Soon after, reports indicated that Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada previews were also cancelled due to the unavailability of prints. As for the original Hindi version, news reports suggest that the previews may be delayed by 40-60 minutes.
Early on Wednesday morning, Venky Box Office, an Overseas Box Office & Trade account on X, tweeted that the second half of the film had not been received by theatres. “Electronic locations should be good for premieres, but hard drive locations may get cancelled if not received in a few hours, which seems likely,” the post read.
Despite online chatter on delays and cancellations, there has been no official statement by the production house or the Dhurandhar team so far.

Chaos ensued online following the cancellations, with many fans wondering whether their plans to watch the film were still on or not. One X user posted their frustration, saying the last-minute change was “not acceptable”. While others were simply in denial.

Some internet users, however, chose to focus on the silver lining with memes aplenty, complaining about the scenes lost to the cutting room floor.
Dhurandhar 2 is set to be one of the biggest pan-Indian releases of the year, with an estimated earning of Rs. 150+ crore in combined pre-sales globally. A delay in release is likely to affect collections.
